RELEASE DATE

Like every other iPhone, this major release is scheduled early in September. Whereas its sales will begin probably in mid September 2017.

What’s new in the iPhone 8

DISPLAY

The new iPhone will have AMOLED display this time. Yea you are thing right. AMOLED displays are the same displays that Samsung uses in its high end devices. Samsung has started the production of such displays for the new iPhone.

AMOLED displays offer better contrast ratio, truer colors, improved viewing angles, better power efficiency to maximize battery life, and a faster response time than an LCD.

Apple blogger John Gruber has claimed, “the entire face will be the display. And the Touch ID sensor will be somehow embedded in the display. The front-facing camera will somehow be embedded in the display. The speaker, everything. All the sensors will somehow be behind the display.”

In short, the new displays features-

  • an AMOLED display
  • no home button
  • no screen bezels

DESIGN

Going back to the iPhone 4 days, iPhone 8 is rumored to come along with a glass back. Finally, Apple has decided to move away from the Aluminium body cases it has been using since 2012. Another thing that Samsung did with its flagship devices. A stainless steel body will be encapsulated with the Gorilla Glass making it a shiny glassy body.

WATER RESISTANCE

The iPhone 8 will feature an IP68 water resistance rating, which means it will withstand 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes. This means you can be in a swimming pool with 4 feet of water, swimming, and your device is still breathing. It also offers full dust protection.

IRIS SCANNER

A newer and more secure way to unlock  your iPhone will be included in the new device. Mobile devices are getting smarter and will now unlock by scanning your eyes.

WIRELESS CHARGING

Apple is taking wireless charging to new levels. It is going to be the pioneers of long range wireless charging. Imagine your mobile charger to be on one corner of the room while you are sitting on the other side of the room, texting your friends, while your phone is still being charged. No wired connections, no physical contact, and the bad boy is being charged. Fascinating!

DUAL LENS CAMERA

iPhone 7 plus already has a dual-lens camera and the 8th edition is also supposed to be blessed with it. But the standard sized iPhone 8 will not break its bond with single lens. Bad luck!
